Kathryn Ruth Cherry died as she lived with courage, vigor, and faith. In the early hours of Thursday, July 19, 2012, Kathryn passed away in her home where she had lived graciously for 67 years surrounded by her "family." She was born of pioneer stock in Throckmorton, Texas, August 3, 1919.
Kathryn was an active member of First United Methodist Church who loved Lamar University, her family and friends. As a voracious and brilliant reader, she treasured books and was a lifelong learner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Cherry; her daughter, Margaret Ann Cherry Nerenberg; her parents, Brammel and Lucy Parrott; her sister, and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her son, Frank Cherry and grandson, Alex Cherry of Los Angeles, California; her grandson, Lloyd Nerenberg and wife, Shira of New York and their 2 children, Reuben Joseph Nerenberg and Maayan Aliza Nerenberg.
Her memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Beaumont, Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
