Lillie Irene Howard McCauley, 91, passed away April 27, 2014 in Lumberton, TX. She was born September 19, 1922 in Starks, Louisiana to Ed and Lucinda Raymer Howard. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with a celebration of her life to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
Lillie was a 55 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was also a member of the Red Hat Society and First Baptist Church of Lumberton, Texas. Much of her time was devoted to volunteering at Hotel Beaumont, Baptist Hospital and the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission. A true hidden talent was found in her writing, especially writing poems.
Mrs. McCauley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glover McCauley, Sr., her son, Louis Murphy McCauley and her brothers and sisters. Surviving her are her son, Glover McCauley, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Lumberton, Texas; daughter, Sandra Smith; granddaughter, Rhonda Schall and her husband, Brian; grandson, Joel Smith and his wife, Amanda; great-granddaughter, Paydon Schall; great-grandson Rian Schall; and her extended family of five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
