Lucille Lucy Light

Lucille ?Lucy? Light, 91, of Orange, went home to the Lord on February 20, 2011, at Golden Years Assisted Living, surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City. Officiating will be Dr. Douglas Caldwell of First United Methodist Church in Mauriceville.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the graveside.

Born in Clendenin, West Virginia on September 25, 1919, Lucille was the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Jeanetta Ellen Armstead Ashley. She worked as a legal secretary and was a certified public secretary. She was in the Women?s Army Corp, assigned to the Air Force Legal Department during World War II, and she later worked for Air/Sea Search and Rescue. She graduated from the West Virginia Institute of Technology. She enjoyed sewing, reading, composing religious music and lyrics, playing the piano, singing, and oil painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, John C. Light; two brothers, and one sister.

Lucille is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Laverne Light of Beaumont; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Lansford of Orange; grandsons, Benjamin Light of Beaumont, John D. Light and wife Karen of Katy, Mark Lansford and wife Michelle of Carrollton; granddaughter, Jamie Cabiness and husband James of Orange; and six great-granddaughters.
