Mary Katherine Palique Curtice was born in Beaumont, Texas to Franklin Bernard Palique and Louise Saintes on June 4, 1940. She spent most of her life in East Texas and married Morton Curtice soon after high school in April of 1959.
Katherine was a wonderful, loving mother providing a heartwarming home for her three children. She loved people and could easily start a conversation with anyone (a gift she gave to her kids, they have all worked in sales). Anyone who knew Katherine was familiar with her infectious laughter that would magically provide a welcoming, “Here I am,” to any room.
Cooking was her passion and Katherine was famous in Beaumont for her chicken gumbo that she served for a number of years at the South Texas State Fair. Another outlet for her sanity was antique shops, where she would buy items that were mostly Christmas related.
Katherine is now with her lord and savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her two sons, Dewayne and Steven Curtice, four grandchildren, Lacy McDonald, Grayson Hogue, Tyler Curtice, Elizabeth Curtice, and one great grandchild, Sheridan McDonald. Katherine is also survived by her sisters, Rita Hunt, Betty Wells, and Dorothy Tories. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morton Curtice, daughter, Liz Curtice Hogue, sisters, Myrtle Potts and Doris Palique, also brother, Sonny Palique.
