Paula Britain Mason, 81, of Beaumont passed away February 10, 2010, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel at 6:00 p.m. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Mason was born October 8, 1928 in West Plains, MO to Paul and Irene Bryant Britain. She worked for AT&T in Houston as a draftsman, where she met her husband, Glenn Mason. Later they moved to Beaumont where they raised their family. She worked for the White House in the book department and later for the Corps of Engineers. Paula had lots of different interests including watching old films, playing bridge, reading books, and was a member of a local garden club. Most of all she loved her family and adored her King Cavalier Spaniels, Oliver and Katie.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Glenn Mason; her parents and brother, Billy Tom Britain.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Pam Mauk and husband, Ronnie of Montgomery, TX; son, James Carey Mason and wife, Sharon of Beaumont; daughter, Debby Mary and husband, Jim of Beaumont, daughter, Jamie Mason Davenport of Springfield, MO and daughter, Paula Meriwether, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Julie Anderson and husband, Mark, of Fort Worth, Michael Mason of New York, Ryan Mason of Houston, Bradley Viator of Washington, D.C., Lacy Stegmann and husband, Ben, of St. Louis, MO, Nicholas Viator of Washington, D.C., Josh Lombardo of Springfield, MO, Carly, Colby and Cory Meriwether, all of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Katie Anderson, Kyleigh Meriwether and Angel and Zoey Lombardo.
