Robert “Bob” Alvin Green, 83, of Beaumont, passed away on September 19, 2017, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 11:00a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Feldschau of Cathedral in the Pines Church in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00a.m., Saturday prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Bob was born in Beaumont, Texas, on January 21, 1934, to Johnnie and Irene (Holden) Green. He attended South Park High School where he met his wife in the 6th grade, he was a football player and she was a cheerleader. Following graduation from South Park he joined the U.S. Navy where he was a helicopter pilot stationed on the U.S.S. Princeton. After leaving the U.S. Navy he attended Lamar University where Bob earned his Master’s in Electrical Engineering. In 1976 he started Greson Technical Sales and Services, Inc. where he worked alongside his wife, Shirley.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His favorite thing to do was to work in his yard. He was a very active member of Cathedral in the Pines Church where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the South East Texas Orchid Society. Bob was a very kind and funny man who had a smile for everyone.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; his children, Tammie Burge, Lydia Green and Michelle both of Lumberton, and Chris Green and his wife, Melanie of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Chad Burge, Garrett Green and Grant Green; and his sister, Dorothy May.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Chad Burge, Garret Green, Grant Green, Mike May, Robert Carvell and Robert Green.
